Visit the Derbyshire Peak District and stay in our 4 star quality 17th century holiday cottage in Buxton. Buxton is a Victorian Spa & Market Town in the centre of the Derbyshire Peak District.
 

During the day: walk the peaks and dales, moors and the beautiful rambling countryside. The Derbyshire Peak District is ideal for walking, cycling or just driving and sight seeing any time of year.

In the evening: explore Buxton's parks and gardens and visit the local pubs and restaurants or even the Buxton Opera House (without having to drive). You can help yourself to the famous Buxton Spring Water at St.Annes Well (it's free to collect it from the spring near the town centre ......... but you need to take your own bottles).

Or simply just relax: in our c350 year old 4 star holiday cottage which was once the home of the local blacksmith and his family located in a quiet (access only)street close to the main market square of Buxton - in the summer just sit outside and enjoy a BBQ.

Around Buxton: is some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK. Whether you enjoy walking, rambling, cycling, rock climbing or just simply appreciate superb views. Buxton is located centrally within the Derbyshire Peak District making it easy to get to all these great facilities.

Location of Smithys Cottage

Smithy's Cottage is a warm and cosy cottage on a quiet "access only" street near the centre of Buxton with large private parking area with BBQ and seating next to the cottage. All within easy walking distance of some great pubs and restaurants and all the local amenities including the famous Buxton Opera House.  
 

Travel Options to Smithys Cottage

Buxton is well served by public transport links from Manchester, Derby, Sheffield and Nottingham for those who do not want to use their car.

By Bus:- The main bus stops only 250m from the cottage which apart using to get to Buxton also gives easy access to explore all parts of the Peak District - check out the links on the left hand column for local and national bus services.

By Train:- The railway station is about a half mile from the cottage - a taxi to the cottage from the station costs around £5 - just ask for "Smithys Cottage on Church Street". Train tickets are available from the link in the left hand column - the JAM TAXIS on 01298 72333‎ or BUXTON RADIO TAXIS on 01298 23457‎. Alternatively a 15 min walk by the town centre - click directions in left hand column for a map.

By Car:- If you do use your own car or one hired from an airport (NB. car hire is available from the link in the left hand column) we have easy and private off-road parking next to the cottage.
